Peace People it’s time to Vote!

Monday May 9 — early voting starts at 7:30 am and continues till 7:30 every day until primary election day on May 24.
Here we are in the state that’s on the VERY BOTTOM of the election participation list.
ARKANSANS DON’T VOTE! Why?!
This is a problem. Do you think maybe it seems like our votes don’t count?
What sad logic. We can’t just give our beautiful state over to forces of greed and exploitation so easily.
Peace People don’t want to be among those Arkansas folks who just never make it to the polls. We can help Arkansas lift itself out of the non-voting pits with our own votes. The stakes are too high right now. We must do this!
What’s on the ballot? Who’s running? Where’s my polling place? How do I get there?
Congratulations! You’ve got all weekend to ask all those critical questions!
Remember that as a 501c3 nonprofit, Omni Center doesn’t tell anyone who to vote for. But also remember that our values about peace, justice, equality, fairness, stewardship of the Earth, care for each other and real democracy need to drive our voting decisions.
Here are some resources to start with:
Sample Ballots from the Washington Count Election Commission. Has instructions for finding the specific precinct you will vote in, and a facsimile of the ballot you’ll see when you vote. https://www.washingtoncountyar.gov/government/departments-a-e/election-commission/sample-ballots-may-24-2022-preferential-primary-nonpartisan-judicial-general-annual-school-and-city-of-tontitown-special-election-4350
Arkansas Democrat Gazette has a nice page for finding your new district (after redistricting) and checking out national candidates here: https://www.arkansasonline.com/voter-guide/
University of Arkansas Extension has a nice guide on issues on the ballot. https://www.uaex.uada.edu/business-communities/voter-education/state-ballot-issues.aspx
Citizens First Congress has a comprehensive voter guide to examine voting records of state legislators, and every bill that was voted on last year. The guide starts on page 10, because it also contains incredible info about the work Citizens First does to engage Arkansas folks in the political process. Check it out! http://www.citizensfirst.org/2021-arleg-vote-guide
Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families guide features up-to-date information on issues facing families, and information for voters. It’s in the left column down a bit, called “Download the Full 2022 Voters Guide.” Good stuff here. https://www.aradvocates.org/issues/be-an-advocate/2022-voters-guide/
Here’s a Washington County list of candidates. https://www.washingtoncountyar.gov/government/departments-a-e/election-commission/candidates-for-the-may-24-2022-preferential-primary-nonpartisan-judicial-general-annual-school-board-of-directors-and-city-of-tontitown-special-election-for-mayor
