A Fundraising & Development Coordinator for Omni
Hello! My name is Abigail Harmon, and I am the new Fundraising and Development Coordinator at OMNI! I am so excited to have a job where I can work on my passions every day: building mutualist community systems to meet people’s needs. I will be focusing on the Gateway Project! If you are unfamiliar, it is a plan to build transitional housing communities in Fayetteville.
I recently graduated from the University of Arkansas, where I served as the president of Zero Hour Arkansas, an environmental and social justice group. I was also a co-director of the SELF campaign, which worked to organize students around local housing issues and specifically how the university perpetuates this in Fayetteville.
I believe we all have power in making social and systemic change, but this power should not be wielded unknowingly. To be effective in the dismantling of oppression, you have to deconstruct the way this oppression arises and projects through you. This is the first step in social change: internal change. Then, build honest relationships through and because of change.
