Homeless Solutions Partners announces new speaker series

Thurs Feb 1 – 6:30 pm – Omni Center

Yes, homelessness in Northwest Arkansas is complicated. But there are ways we can help homeless neighbors who need it badly. Homeless Solutions Partners wants you to join them to get the real story of what’s going on and how to help.

On Feb 1 the director of the Continuum of Care — Director Debbie Martin, brings information. CoC is the group who brings HUD dollars to nonprofits and cities to help homelessness. Debbie will talk about CoC’s work. What they do, and how caring people can help.

One of CoC’s jobs is to hold a Point in Time Count (the PIT Count) that tries to do a “census” of unhoused people to give HUD and local communities a sense of how many homeless people there are in their area. Last year’s PIT count shows that there has been an increase in unhoused people. And that there has been a shift from single individuals identified as “chronic” homeless, to the unsettling situation we’ve all noticed of families, elderly couples, people recently released from hospitals and youth showing up on our streets without resources.

The presentation from Homeless Solutions will also be livestreamed for viewing on Facebook. Details for viewing will be released well before the talk.
