Attunements for the Earth (Writing Workshop)

Hosted by Geoff Oelsner

A contemplative writing workshop for poets and song lyricists

In this workshop, I’ll share how I learned attunement, a practice that incorporates both receptive, meditative silence and free writing, 55 years ago at the phenomenal Findhorn Community in Scotland. I’ll relate a few of my mind opening experiences of attuning to the natural world, and how these experiences have informed my life, poetry, songwriting and environmental activism.

We’ll practice group attunements, first to what Findhorn co-founder Dorothy Maclean called “the Living Silence;” then to chosen aspects of nature, jotting down and subsequently sharing our intuitive written impressions. We’ll explore participants’ own unique resources for heightening receptivity in the service of deep connectedness with the earth and the creative process, with an eye to how these resources might be enhanced to facilitate greater awareness of the natural world, and of our own true nature.

Please bring pen and paper. You are most welcome to download a closely related text, my book Attunements for the Earth, free of charge at my website geoffoelsner.com, where you’ll also find links to order physical copies.
