Changes in a Good Direction
Introducing Alex and Rachel

Alex Tripodi has been a member of Omni Board of Directors for over two years now. Maybe you remember the story of how his workplace closed down when covid started and he founded MayDay Community Kitchen for his own sanity and to feed others who were struggling.

At the time, Alex told us “Peace will look different in the world my generation is facing. We need to think about how we do our work differently because if my generation is going to be part of this, they’ll want to see practical results.” Alex demonstrated his words with his actions, and we listened since, up until Alex join us we’d become a mainly senior citizen group, still dedicated to peace, justice, ecology and Omni Center, but thinking about how our work could be shared with new generations.

So we’re really proud to announce to Omni folk that Alex has agreed to become Omni Center’s new Board President. His partner Rachel Anderson is also in the process of joining Omni’s Board, and Rain Rues has also joined us. They’re already hard at work on a new post-covid project we’re developing (I wish I had a picture of 7-year-old Rain singing at Open Mic in about 2005)

Retiring Board president Kelly Mulhollan is very happy to have Alex at the helm now, He will continue to serve on the Board, with Open Mic for Peace and other projects he and Donna do so beautifully.
Alex is thinking hard about how he wants to impact Omni’s work in the coming years. The new project – the NWA Time Exchange – has juicy potential to help Fayetteville and our nearby communities re-connect after covid and help each other better. You’ll hear more about this project below.

Normally we’d introduce Alex at a members and friends gathering or something, but you may have to welcome him at online meetings for awhile. If you’d like to talk to Alex and some of our new peace leaders, drop us a note at omni@omnicenter.org. We’ll hold a welcoming reception at some point and would love to invite a few interested Omni members and friends to join us.

Please do welcome this new generation of peace, justice and ecology leaders to Omni as all together we decide how peace can work in the face of polarization and pandemic.

The world is changing, and so must we. Finding our own roles in the world as it emerges is a task that all of us are grappling with. But what else do we have to do with this wild and precious life we’re holding on to right now? Student, young adult or senior, we have this opportunity to make our mark in a world that truly needs us all.
