Portals for Peace – Omni Film Series

Portals for Peace – Omni Film SeriesWeds Nov 20 – 7:00 pm – Omni CenterThis month showing“Come and See”

If you need an escape from the Democratic debates, please come and see ComeandSee (U.S.S.R., 1985), Elem Klimov’s masterpiece about Partisan resistance to the Nazi invasion of Belarus during WW2, witnessed through the eyes (and ears) of a teenage boy, Florya, briefly thrown into the company of Glascha, a beguiling peasant girl.

Cited by some as the greatest war movie ever made, it “never stoops to conventional heroic catharsis or genre movie narrative symmetry” (from the liner notes). Some of the images, captured splendidly by Alexei Rodionov, are unforgettable. 142 minutes, in color. In Russian with English subtitles. Please join us at the OMNI Center next Wednesday, November the 20th, at 7:00pm. –Gerry Sloan
