Hog Farms Still Try to Take Over the Buffalo

The sponsor of hog farm bill SB 290 did it again. For the third time, the bill to allow CAFOs in the Buffalo River watershed was on the Senate Agriculture Committee agenda and not called up for a vote. Many of our friends traveled hundreds of miles to oppose this bill and were left sitting in the committee room. It will likely be back on the agenda on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Prison Spending Bill

SB 354 to spend $750 billion to build a monster new prison, was supposed to come up for vote on Tuesday but got enough attention that they put it off until next Thursday hoping people will forget about it. Medicaid could be supported instead. Schools, hospitals, mental health centers… lots of things that would really help people… could be built with $750 million dollars instead of this monstrosity of profit-seeking.
