Building the Masterplan for the Omni Grounds

Sun March 8 – 1:00 pm – Omni Second meeting of volunteers meeting to create a master plan for Omni’s grounds that will include the Hank Kaminsky sculpture “Peace”. Architect Michael Cochram and a group of volunteers are working through a consensus based decision making process to see that this project has wide buy-in from Omni members and friends. Protect Our Voices Campaign: The End of Initiative Petition in Arkansas

Sat March 7 – 5:00 pm – Omni Led by attorney David Mc—-, on “THE PETITION KILLER” This presentation tells the story of what’s going on behind the scenes to limit or even end the ability of citizens to use the Constitutional tool of initiative petition. Where’s the Lasagna?

Some Omni folks have been asking when the Annual Gathering of Members and Friends will be happening. Here’s the short story: As you know, we used to do it in February but moved it to May last year to avoid ice storms. That wasn’t the perfect time either, so the planning group for the event has decided to make the Annual Gathering a fall event. We’ll be updating you as plans emerge, but look for lasagna in September, after Hiroshima Nagasaki Day in August.


Zero Waste Event

Thurs Feb 20 – 6:30 pm – Omni Get all the ins and outs of managing to live waste-free from a resident expert – Rose Brown – who writes the Zero Waste articles like the one below. Rose has live almost totally waste-free for a decade. She will inspire you to think about what’s in your trash can, your shopping bag, and your heart. She’s also really nice, and if you ask she’ll tell you about her latest plan, a TIMEBANK in Northwest Arkansas.

Movie showing and discussion on the evils of war Weds Feb 19 – 7:00 pm – Omni Center This month showing “No Man’s Land” – a bleakly funny parable of war in Bosnia in 1993. Presented by Prof Nikola Radan, whose background is Bosnian.
