APRIL 4 SUNDAY April Peace Coffeehouse & Open Mic Sunday, April 4, 7-9pm
Hosted by Carol Florida & Wendy Finn as the Power of One. Carol Florida & Wendy Finn (as the Power of One) will host the April Peace Coffeehouse and Open Mic from 7 to 9pm at the OMNI Center. Snacks, coffee and other beverages will be provided.
All musicians and poets are invited to sign up to perform 2 songs or poems about peace, justice or ecology. Share a warm evening in our coffeehouse celebrating peace! The Omni Center is on the NW corner of Maple and Storer across from the university in the United Campus Ministries Building (around the back and downstairs). EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Robert F. Kennedy,JR. is presenting an address sponsored by The U of A School of Law, Fullbright College of Arts and Sciences, The U of A Environmental Law Society, and The Hartman Hotz Trust, two people per ticket. Kristen left about 10 tickets "on the middle table in the OMNI Center."

"Haiti: Democracy Subverted, US Coups Pres. Aristide" March 6th, '04 INN TV broadcast of interview by Lenny Charles of Prof. Michel Chossudovsky about circumstances surrounding the ouster of Aristide by what Chossudovsky describes as US armed and supported paramilitary forces. And the Democracy Now exclusive TV interview by Amy Goodman of deposed
democratically elected Pres. Aristide and his head advisor, Franz Gabriel. In this interview Aristide explains his and his wife's kidnapping by US military and is collaborated by another interview with his head advisor, Franz Gabriel who was also spirited away to Africa in an unmarked US jet. The interview was made in part while on the plane carrying Aristide back to the Caribbean to Jamaica earlier this month. These recent interviews will be shown at the OMNI Center, 902 W. Maple, corner of Storer, United Campus Ministry Bldg., Fayetteville at 6:30pm on Friday, Apr. 9th. Run time: 54min. No admission fee, suggested donation is $2. Healthy refreshments are available. Joan Mandell: The Middle East in North America: 20 Years of Activist Filmmaking
Visiting Filmmaker Joan Mandell screens two of her works: "Voices in Exile: Immigrants and the First Amendment" follows the rivetting court case of seven Palestinians and a Kenyan, facing deportation from the US since 1987 on charges of terrorism.
And "I, Too, Sing America": a short video that powerfully addresses issues of nationalism and stereotyping. Joan Mandell will also share her reflections on experiences as a documentary filmmaker over the past two decades in the Middle East and North America. Kimpel Hall 310, Monday April 12, 12:30. OMNI ECOLOGY: TOURISM

Gov. Huckabee spoke again about tourism, this time to the National Tour Association, and his message was entirely about "getting people here." No word about environmental costs and need to have a program to protect the environment from tourism. Does this interest some of you, enough to start an OMNI committee to start building guidelines?
