JULY 19, CITY COUNCIL AND SCULL CREEK RESTORATION
From the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association: This is your opportunity to make a difference in restoring Scull Creek, a major Fayetteville waterway! The Scull Creek greenway can be underway very soon if the City Council votes to use extra funds to begin land acquisition and construction. The decision may come up as soon as this Tuesday at the Council Meeting. Please call or e-mail the council members to voice your opinion before Tuesday. the total cost will be around $3,000,000. The Fayetteville Sidewalk and Trails Committee voted to recommend a sum of $500,000. We think that the project needs $1,000,000 to make a good start. The Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association believes that the proposed Scull Creek Greenway and Trail can be one of our most valuable recreational and natural resources, due to its location along the north/south axis of the valley where Fayetteville first developed.

AUGUST 8, SUNDAY, REMEMBERING VICTIMS/CELEBRATING PEACEMAKERS
59 years ago, the US dropped two atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, inaugurating nuclear terrorism and the nuclear arms race. 59 years later, each Trident submarine is armed with the equivalent of 1,000 Hiroshima bombs. Peacemakers, are we doing all we can to stop this madness? What are our priorities for a moral life? Join with our August 8 Remembrance, and let it begin a renewed commitment of time and money to eliminate nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction in ALL countries. We will march at 6 in protest of the horrendous slaughters performed and planned by some of the leaders of the world, and in celebration of the world’s nonviolent heroes who offer us alternatives.

VIDEO UNDERGROUND FUNDRAISER
On October 10th, 2004 the Video Underground will have a fundraiser, showing Moveon.org's top 50 'Bush In 30 Seconds' ads. Along with the show there will be a silent auction. Mark your calendars and join us for the fun.

BANNERS ON 71B
