Homeless Solutions Post

Welcome to “The Post”

Homelessness is COMPLEX.
We’re all in this together. How can we operationalize that key progressive value? If we’re taking care of “the least of these” we can be confident that when we need help ourselves, the infrastructure to take care of us all will be right there waiting.

Next Homeless Solutions meeting

Talks that Matter

Thursday May 2 – 6:30 pm –

Omni Center

Featuring Britin Bostick, Long Range Planner and Special Projects, City of Fayetteville

The schedule changed a bit for this session of Homeless Solutions. We planned to have Dr. John Gallagher come share the results of our Point in Time Count (PIT Count), but the final results of the count aren’t quite finished yet. Dr. Gallagher will join us in June instead with lots of information about what’s going on.

So we get the joy of listening to Britin Bostick this month instead!

Britin’s been in Fayetteville for a bit over 2 years. She last came from Texas, and for part of that two years she had her head wrapped in a whole lot of numbers while she studied what her new community is like and what we needed from her. Last year she started releasing the fruits of her studies in a housing report that was presented to the city council in 3 parts and detailed a lot of new information, and known information that takes on new meaning when it’s put into context with a big picture. Together they’ll begin showing Fayetteville how to move forward on its housing dilemmas.

Britin’s looking forward to being a resource person for the Housing Crisis Task Force, and once you’ve heard her speak you’ll see that she has an amazing range of valuable information and skill to offer.

Bring your questions along, because there’s a good chance that Britin will have something useful to say about whatever we’re concerned about.

Emergency Housing Action in Fayetteville Needs Us

Now we have a Housing Crisis Task Force, will you apply for it?

Fayetteville City Council has adopted a resolution that recognizes that there is a housing crisis, and setting up a Housing Crisis Task Force Mayor Jordan is accepting applications until Tuesday April 30.

Do you have experience that might help devise a plan to get our people out of this mess? Caring people who are landlords, builders, contractors, lawyers, homeless agency staff, and others who have experience with housing and homelessness have valuable experience to share with the Task Force to solve this.

Mayor Jordan will select Task Force members and release the list in June. They should convene shortly after that.

More information, and a link to the application is at the city website right here:
