Gaza Special Alert
Omni joins the world in demanding a ceasefire from Netanyahu and Biden. The slaughter and destruction is just too horrific to continue. Journalists from Gaza are requesting a global strike from economic activity Jan 21-28. What might you do to help make that statement? As always, OMNI center stands with all people regardless of Religion and is devoted to the safety of our Jewish community in this time of rising anti-semitism.
January 14th, marked the 100th day of destruction and murder in Gaza. The horrifying latest stats, as of that day, from the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor are as follows:

- 61,079 injured
- 113 Journalists killed (More than during any other conflict in the 20th century)
- 169 destroyed/damaged press headquarters
- 1,955,000 displaced
- 69,700 completely destroyed homes
- 187,300 partially destroyed homes
- 1,671 destroyed industrial facilities
- 637 killed or injured medical professionals
- 183 healthcare facilities destroyed
- 198 heritage sites desecrated/destroyed
As you can see, the situation is urgent and Palestine needs us! These atrocities are being funded by us taxpayers and the bombs that fall in Gaza are made in our country. White phosphorus dropped on Gaza is MADE IN PINE BLUFF ARKANSAS! As Americans some of our most powerful means of voting are our time and money. Bisan, a prominent journalist operating out of Gaza, knows this and has requested a week long global strike in support of Palestine. This is an escalation of the previous strike which was for one day in December.
We know that a week is a long ask and that many of us have complex lives that cannot be put on hold, so we ask that you just participate in the strike to the best of your ability. And please be loud about it! Tell everyone why you have to cancel the meeting, why you are taking a day off, why you are stocking up on gas and groceries on the 20th, etc. Tell everyone that life cannot go on as usual while war crimes are committed in our name!
There are some graphics below to help with additional ideas on how you can best participate.
Our board member, Rain Rues, is hoping to join or mobilize a demonstration downtown or on Dickson during the strike, in order to spread awareness. Please email us if you know of anything going on. We’d like to participate in any way.
