Friends of Palestine Benefit Concert

Sunday – Nov 3 – 4:30 pm – Arsega’s in the Mill District Benefit Concert on Sunday, November 3rd from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. featuring performances by local artists Rain Rues, Jude Brothers, and Avery Lee at Arsaga’s Mill District. Suggested donations of $10 to $20 are encouraged, to support winterizing a refugee camp in Gaza. Bring your friends. Autumn Vegan Potluck

Sunday Oct 27 – 6:30 pm – Omni Center First vegan potluck of this fall season. Not just for vegans though. Anyone who’d like to know more about a plant-based diet is welcome to attend. It’s a MAJOR way we can combat climate change and environmental degradation in the face of big odds. Bring any simple dish to share that avoids meat and dairy. You’ll have a chance to meet others testing out the diet, and some who’ve been doing this for years. We’ll all learn something interesting. More information at the Facebook site HERE

New zoning laws hustled through

The County Services Committee did NOT approve sending the zoning ordinance to the full Court this month. Yay! We aren’t finished with this issue yet though. Washington County Judge Patrick Deakin has decided to push through zoning ordinances that allow him to decide the fate of thousands of parcels of land with less oversight or input from either property owners or Quorum Court Justices. We’ll never tell you who to vote for, but

Karen Baker, Tom Cotten doesn’t like her. She must be doing something right. Karen R. Baker is a judge for Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court. She assumed office on the Court January 10, 2011. Baker is running for election as Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court which is a nonpartisan race. The good news Voter registration is WAY up in Arkansas!

The bad news… Due to a “technical glitch,” tens of thousands of voter registration updates made at Arkansas revenue offices between January and March may not have been properly processed. This error could potentially disenfranchise thousands of voters, impacting the outcome of our elections. CHECK YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION HERE! DON’T BE ONE OF THE DISENFRANCHISED!
