Climate Moment Jury orders Chevron to pay $745 million for costal damages A jury in Louisiana, in the U.S., has ruled that Chevron, a major oil and gas company, must pay a local government about $745 million to help restore wetlands that the jury said the energy company had harmed for decades. The verdict is likely to influence similar lawsuits filed by other parishes, or counties, in the state against other energy giants and their possible settlement negotiations.
