Feels like the last two weeks of pregnancy
More than most, this election has the feel of the last two weeks of pregnancy. This thing just NEVER ENDS! I know I already voted. Hope you did too. (IF YOU HAVEN’T TIME’S AWASTIN’ GET OUT THERE!) The work is done. Now let’s get it over with!
Something that’s unsettling to me in how the Republican party is behaving. The local and state folks are acting just like you’d expect people to act if they think they’re losing. The photo above is of Katie Couric and a former Republican strategist getting ready to talk about how badly his former party is doing. His face says it all. Especially compared to Katie’s “winner” face.
However, at the national level there’s some different dynamic in the undertow. There’s lots of nerves on display. But at the top they’re not acting like losers. They’re acting like people who believe they have the house fully locked down already. They’re just not sure how bad the storm will be.
I think the election day “surprise” Donald keeps hinting at will be intense. How do we prepare for something like that?
The first job is to keep this huge early-vote wave moving. Remind everyone you know that this is the time to show up. The massive turnout already happening is the first wave in the resistance to whatever Donald’s friends have in mind for democracy.
