Most of the time, we don’t ask the question. We’re too focused on the immediate work: the organizing, the resistance, the protection of what remains of democratic institutions. The economic question feels like it belongs to some future we haven’t earned yet.
That instinct is understandable. It is also, historically, one of the most dangerous mistakes a democracy movement can make.
