Indian Hills Starbucks – 7129 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock

(near the intersection of JFK & North Hills Blvd)

Dear Arkansas Progressive Democrats Caucus Members,

I’m asking you to join us in a solidarity action with Central Arkansas DSA and Starbucks Workers United as baristas nationwide continue their Unfair Labor Practice(ULP) strike. Workers have endured years of illegal union busting and the company’s refusal to settle a fair contract. They are demanding fair hours, higher take-home pay, and a resolution to the hundreds of labor law violations Starbucks continues to commit.

Many of you may already know that the Benton, Arkansas Starbucks location began its picket on Black Friday, but the following week workers were removed by management and told they would be trespassed if they continued their peaceful demonstration. Our upcoming action is a direct follow-up to show that we are still standing with these workers and that community support doesn’t disappear when management pushes back.

On Dec 15th, allies across the country are being asked to host simple flyering actions at non-union Starbucks stores to urge customers to Stop Buying Starbucks until the company negotiates a fair contract. Flyering is straightforward—we hand informational leaflets to customers, especially in the drive-thru, to explain the strike and how they can support the workers.

After flyering, we will move inside for a sip-in for as long as permitted. During the sip-in, participants will also pass out informational leaflets to customers inside. Participants may request water, or—if you prefer not to purchase anything from Starbucks—you may pick up a drink from 7 Brew across the street beforehand.

In Solidarity,

Lela Chism Co-Chair
