Thurs October 3 – 6:30 pm – Omni Center
It’s been a very active month and the Homeless Solutions gathering crept up on us. We will be meeting TOMORROW (the first Thursday of the month) 6:30 pm at Omni like we usually do.
At the Housing Task Force meeting in September Homeless Solutions had a great presence! Instead of three lonely HS reps, there were EIGHT of us, and 4 gave outstanding testimony about their views and their personal experiences of housing difficulties in Fayetteville. It was reassuring to know that the task force was attentively listening to our people speak their hearts.
At the HS meeting tomorrow a couple of Observers who attended will be sharing what they witnessed from the task force. I’m sure looking forward to hearing what the initial experience was like for them.
There are also two “sub-committee” kind of groups in formation that you’re invited to join. One is a research project Carol Baker has instigated, and another is an interview project to collaborate with the Quaker Peace & Justice Committee to meet with Task Force members individually.
You’ll hear more about these projects tomorrow evening, 6:30 at Omni.
At its next meeting, the task force itself will likely be discussing the outcomes of their strategy retreat that happened last Saturday. That’ll be interesting for sure! We may have things to say about that. The task force meeting will be Wednesday October 16 at 5:30 pm on the 3rd floor of city hall.
