Addressing Single Stream Recycle

Fayetteville City Council meeting
Addressing Single Stream Recycle

Tuesday Feb 21 — 5:30 pm
City Admin Building, 113 W. Mountain St.

Fayetteville has a great curbside recycle system. Single stream recycling is a new process best designed to benefit waste haulers, not reduce landfill quantity. This may be our final chance to speak out about a change that will impact our city forever. Other good options besides single stream are available.

What are other communities facing?
Highland Village, TX learns that 19% of their single stream recyclables were going to the landfill:

Little Rock Arkansas’ contamination rate skyrockets to 40% with single stream!

There are many more cities scrambling to account for bad numbers and cost overruns. Fayetteville has one of the BEST recycling programs in the nation. Let’s not mess with something that works so well. Come to next Tuesday’s City Council Meeting and express your opinions.
